Outcome of the Macau government’s press conference
As expected by Anima Macau, the Macau government has announced that it has a contingency plan in the event that the Canidrome cannot move the dogs out by Saturday – which is almost inevitable as there are only 3 days left until the closing date of the Canidrome.
It is Anima’s understanding that in that event, the Canidrome premises would be handled by the government authorities such as the IACM which would be a very good option, as it would involve the assistance of Anima in helping with the dogs and organising their rehoming, and there may also be the possibility that Anima may be asked later to handle the Canidrome premises.
To allow for such an eventuality, Anima is currently asking the Labour Department for permission to recruit non local staff in case they are asked to provide assistance at short notice, and are not able to find sufficient local staff.
So this is all promising news, but a little more patience is required until the official closure day and final announcement on Saturday 21st.
Thank you all for your patience and for bearing with us in these difficult days!
