JACK’S STORY
A few years ago Anima were informed by Nora Dieppe in Australia that one of her greyhound Millie’s siblings had been sold to Macau by his trainer. After an investigation it was found that this dog was the renamed City Hunter (formerly Jack).
Albano Martins and Anima then successfully worked to stop him and another greyhound named Brooklyn from being killed, by putting pressure on the Macau government.
Since the start of the international #ClosetheCanidrome campaign in 2012, launched and led on a worldwide basis by ANIMA Macau and GREY2K USA Worldwide, several dogs were kept alive because of the international public pressure applied by the campaign. That is the reason why several of the older dogs are still alive.
When the Canidrome started holding their “Adoption Days’, Anima instructed board member Edith Lam to go and get Jack for Nora.
Jack is now happy and well, and is being fostered by Edith alongside her own rescued ex Canidrome greyhound Garlic, while the necessary veterinary and bureaucratic procedures are carried out prior to his return to Australia later in the year.
