The final decision for the greyhounds of the Macau Government tomorrow 18th July –
**Macau update – 17-07-2018**
Tomorrow at 9.30am UK time (3.30pm Macau time) the government of Macau will finally announce its decision re the fate of the Macau greyhounds. A massive amount of difficult work has been carried out on a daily basis behind the scenes by Anima president Albano Martins to save these dogs, much of it kept confidential due to the delicacy of the situation, but Anima has good grounds to believe that the outcome will be a positive one for the dogs.
It is a very complex and difficult battle, and there is no guarantee that we will succeed in our aim: to save the majority of these dogs, and to do so legally and without stooping to dangerous compromises with the Canidrome and the Chinese mafia who are behind them.
But once again we all, at Pet Levrieri with Anima Macau and GREY2K USA will fight to the end. There is a network of more than 55 organisations from around the world who are helping.
Whatever the outcome, I know that no stone has been left unturned to save these dogs.
Here is the Albano press release.
Tomorrow at 3:30 pm, local time, the Macau Government will have a press conference regarding its final decision for the greyhounds!
I believe that after the last good DICJ press release, the Macau Government will be on our side for the protection of the Macau greyhounds!
Anima expects the Macau Government will clearly commit IACM the handling of those animals, supported by Anima and all local animal welfare associations and, and this is very important for a tiny territory like Macau, by all our international friends on the back of the campaign #SaveTheMacauGreyhounds#, leader by GREY2K USA, Pet Levrieri of Italy and Anima of Macau!
I really expect that these news will be good for our greyhound!
Never mind which decision Macau Government will take, never mind if Anima was not really capable to fight for a good strategy for save our greyhounds, I once again thank you all for having supported us and trusted our work and the work of our international partners!
If we have succeeded I will ask all of you again to stand for these poor animals and help us and our international partners to find proper families for all of them!
If these are the good news, we will not have an easy walk!
I am confident! What about you?
