THE HUNT IS OVER, SOON MY LIFE WILL END TOO (by a galgo).
THE HUNT IS OVER, SOON MY LIFE WILL END TOO. (by a galgo).
The hunting season is over. Time has quickly carried off my hunting days. They were never great days, but at least I had a chance to show my worth. I am a hunter, nature made me that way so I could survive. Man appropriated this ability that I have and used me, but none of this is my fault. It’s not my fault that I’m a hunter, nor that I was used to harm other creatures – not to eat or feed the hungry but just for the amusement of men, for sport, for a trophy or for money. Those who love me have named this day ‘the Day of the Galgo’.
Thank you…from myself and indeed from all of us. It’s nice that we have a day dedicated to us, but I hope that one day we won’t need this day anymore.
I hope that one day we will be just ordinary dogs like so many others, not condemned to an early death from the moment we are born. But thank you for remembering us.
I have to go now, but please do everything you can to help my brothers and sisters who will come after me. Adopt one of us, tell others about our sad situation, work to change the laws that do not protect us, educate young people to respect us, build a movement that will outlaw hunting with galgos.
My time ends here.
Your commitment can help keep open a window of hope, the hope that one day all this will end. When hunting with galgos is banned, then it really will be #Eldiadelgalgo.
