Rescued greyhounds are wonderful therapy dogs for people affected by autism. Today is 9th International Autism Awareness Day, a condition that has increased tenfold in the last 40 years, and which – according to statistics by the World Health Organisation – affects one child in 160.
Rescued ex racer greyhounds – as well as being wonderful pets – can also be amazing therapy dogs for people diagnosed with autism. There are wonderful examples of greys working with autistic people in the US, UK, Ireland and Australia, to name but a few.
