Come descritto da Drivetime RTE1, Clonbrien Hero è stato trovato positivo alla cocaina per ben tre volte in un mese ( tra il 24 giugno e il 22 luglio) – in tutte le corse effettuate presso Curraheen Park di Cork. Il campione irlandese Clonbrien Hero è stato trovato positivo alla cocaina. 13 settembre 2017 – Irish Examiner Clonbrien Hero, che ha corso all’Irish Laurels Champion è stato trovato positivo al doping per la benzoylecgonina, (principale metabolita della cocaina), scrive Stephen Barry. Il cane, allenato da Graham Holland, era già stato trovato positivo al doping in altre due occasioni, il 1 luglio e il 22 luglio, al Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium di Cork. L’ultimo test positivo è stato rilevato alla finale Laurels, dove Clonbrien Hero ha vinto in 28 secondi staccando il secondo cane di ben tre lunghezze. Il premio per la vittoria era di € 30.000. La Benzoylecgonina è il composto che viene testato per individuare se è stato fatto uso di cocaina; il caso è stato riferito all’ Irish Greyhound Board Control Committee (IGB Comitato Controllo). Anche Clonbrien Hero è entrato nell’attuale Irish Greyhound Derby, che è stato vinto l’anno scorso da “Rural Hawaii” allenato dal trainer Holland. L’Irish Greyhound Board ha affermato che nell’ambito delle sue vigorose verifiche, pubblica tutti i risultati “non conformi”, nel caso dovessero verificarsi.“I risultati analitici “non conformi” vengono riportati da IGB al Comitato di Controllo e in base a quanto indicato nel Greyhound Industry (Racing) Regulations, viene richiesto di approfondire ed esaminare, come previsto dalla legislazione.” “IGB non commenta i singoli casi che sono stati sottoposti al Comitato di Controllo e che sono soggetti ad indagine. “Le decisioni del Comitato di Controllo, possono anche essere soggette a ricorsi.” “IGB vuole essere trasparente, impegnandosi nel controllo antidoping e dei medicinali introducendo nel 2015 una disposizione regolamentare che prevede la pubblicazione di tutti i risultati analitici “non conformi” rilevati nei campioni prelevati dai levrieri oltre alla presentazione dei risultati di tutti i casi al Comitato di Controllo”. “Inoltre, nel 2016, il Board ha introdotto una legislazione secondaria che prevede l’utilizzo di un Registro dove indicare l’utilizzo dei medicinali e dei trattamenti a cui sono sottoposti i levrieri, e prevede di potenziare l’attuazione dei controlli sui levrieri (delle sostanze proibite) anche fuori dai circuiti di gara”Video:

As reported on this evening's Drivetime, Clonbrien Hero tested positive for cocaine three times within a four week period between 24 June and 22 July – all the races at Curraheen Park in Cork. The prize for that victory was €30,000.Benzoylecgonine is the compound tested for to detect cocaine use, and the case has been referred to the Irish Greyhound Board Control Committee.Clonbrien Hero was also entered in the ongoing Irish Greyhound Derby, which was won last year by the Holland-trained Rural Hawaii.Holland was in the news last December when his dog, Clares Rocket, was abducted from his kennels in Golden, Tipperary. The dog was subsequently recovered.“The Irish Greyhound Board, as part of its robust testing regime, publishes any adverse findings as they arise,” said an Irish Greyhound Board statement.“Adverse analytical findings are reported by IGB to the Control Committee pursuant to the Greyhound Industry (Racing) Regulations with a request for the Control Committee to investigate the matter as provided for in legislation.“IGB does not comment on individual cases which have been referred to the Control Committee and which may proceed to investigation. Decisions of the Control Committee may also be appealed.“As part of its commitment to greater transparency in the area of anti-doping and medication control, IGB introduced secondary legislation in 2015 to provide for the publication of all adverse analytical findings in greyhound samples and to ensure the publication of the outcome from all cases before the Control Committee.“Additionally in 2016, the Board introduced secondary legislation to provide for record keeping in relation to the use of medicines and the treatment of greyhounds, as well as powers to implement the off-track sampling of greyhounds for prohibited substances (whether in training or otherwise).”
