WE WISH EVERYONE A HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL 2018!
On behalf of everyone at Pet Levrieri, I would like to wish animal advocates everywhere a very successful and satisfying 2018, and hope that it will be a year of important achievements.
I also wish our friends and adoptive families a very fulfilling 2018, full of moments to be treasured. May it be a positive year in general for everyone.
I would like to dedicate a special thought to our activist friends and all of those who work on the frontline in antiracing campaign groups and refuges in Ireland, the UK, Spain, the US, Australia, New Zealand, China and the rest of the world, who fight every day and often under challenging conditions not only to save as many greyhounds, lurchers and galgos as possible, but also to push for the legal and cultural changes needed to build a future without greyhound racing and hunting with galgos.
They give hope to the thousands of sighthounds who are exploited, abused and exterminated by the racing industry and by galgueros.
Although we fight first and foremost for the sighthounds exploited by the business of racing and hunting, we do not forget the many dogs who are mistreated and abandoned in our country also, as well as the horses exploited in the world of racing, and the animals who are victims of medical experiments, illegal trafficking and puppy farms.
We hope that 2018 will be a year of progress for them as well. We will try to give their plight a voice too, and to support campaigns on their behalf. F
inally, I would like to dedicate a special thought to all the activists at Anima Macau and to its president Albano Martins – an extraordinary and courageous animal advocate and valued friend – who have been fighting since 2012 to save the Canidrome greyhounds. A first pivotal victory has been achieved: the closure of the Macau Canidrome by July 2018. Now we must win another important battle: to save all the 600 plus greyhounds still at the track.
The year we are leaving behind has been a busy one, involving much hard work but also important achievements.
The international anti racing and anti hunting movement has grown thanks to the ability of its adherents to network and collaborate together in a constructive and forward looking way. Our association has grown a lot too, thanks to the concerted and united commitment of all our members, the ever increasing number of new owners who adopt dogs from us, and the people who support us and stand by us.
Our promise and our pledge for the New Year is to work with even greater zeal to support the worldwide campaign Save the Macau Greyhounds, alongside Anima Macau, Grey2K USA and all our international partners; to raise awareness about the terrible plight of greyhounds and galgos; and to support those who defend them on the frontline around the world, as well as finding homes for them. Happy 2018 everyone!
