LETTER FROM PET LEVRIERI TO THE SENATE OF ARGENTINA
The association Proyecto Galgo will speak at the Argentinian Parliament on Wednesday 29th July, to propose a law which would ban greyhound racing in Argentina.
We at Pet Levrieri have sent the Argentinian senators this letter in support of the proposal by Proyecto Galgo.
To the Senators of the Republic of Argentina
Dear Sirs
It is with much joy that we have learned that you have been called upon to approve legislation which will ban greyhound racing in your country.
In Italy commercial greyhound racing has been banned for many years, and public opinion is not only opposed to racing, but is also very well disposed towards countries in which the barbarism of the exploitation of dogs for racing is forbidden.
There are many associations in our country which rehome greyhounds exploited in other European countries. Thousands of these dogs have been rehomed in our homes, and it is also thanks to them that the exploitation which they are subjected to in the racing and betting worlds is considered odious.
Your decision to ban racing in your country would be a wonderful step forward in terms of civilisation, education in respecting animals and prevention of the criminal activities that have always been commonly associated with the world of racing animals.
Our people and the people of Argentina have always had a deep connection, a connection based not only on friendship in general but also on kinship. A kinship which is expressed and nourished by the presence of strong cultural links and often also family ties.
The decision to ban racing would be something to be proud of for your country, and would strengthen this kinship, and the image and the links with our people, who are so sensitive to the suffering of greyhounds and galgos and the exploitation of animals.
Yours sincerely,
Stefania Traini
President of Pet Levrieri
